Daliya upma

Daliya upma

Daliya Upma is a little spicy. It is cooked with onion, green chilies, vegetables, nuts and with different spices to maintain its savory. It has a very balanced taste and suitable for the consumption of both children and adults.
Upma is originally a South Indian dish made from coarsely grounded wheat called Rava /suji/semolina, rice grains, vermicelli and even with quinoa. Upma is seasoned by curry leaves which gives it a nice southern flavor. Dalia is a cereal that's made from cracked wheat is a complete low-calorie meal, which is high in protein, fiber, and iron and vitamin B. Cracked wheat dishes are popular in northern India, where they're eaten for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
When we hear the word daliya. Our mind has these pictures of boring daliya made from milk & we must tell you that daliya is not kheer & not crunchy like corn flakes. That daliya is a total bore and immediately our interest from the daliya is gone into the trash.
We Indian eating habits come up with the savory & tangy side of daliya.
North Indians make daliya khichdi. Upma term came from south India.
Dalia is one of the best options and it promotes weight loss. The regular consumption of Dalia provides a good amount of protein and fiber to the body.

The reason it is called vegetable upma is that along with the main ingredient daliya this contains loads of veggies – a medley of carrots, peas, potatoes, capsicums, and beans. we personally recommend the vegetable upma but here we are sharing simple two ingredients North Indian version upma which is a very simple plain upma with some roasted peanuts.
This diabetic-friendly grain (Wheat Daliya) needs more water to cook than the normal semolina Upma. For one cup of a finer version of daliya, we need to add two and quarter cups of water to cook well. The resultant upma has to be loose & dry texture.

½ tsp cumin seeds
