Momos Chutney is a hot and sour spicy tomato chutney that is basically served with popular street food Momos. It can also be served with dumplings. Although momos & dumpling terms are sometimes used alternatively. But both are not the same dishes. They are different cuisines. Momos came from Nepal & Dumplings' term came from Chinese food. The chutney we are preparing today has a prominent spicy taste and that's how it is meant to be. We used this Bydagi chili which is high on color & less on heat.

This chili comes from Karnataka. One can use Kashmiri chili also but we recommend this bydagi chili. If using regular chili remove all the seeds & use. 

Ingredients:

2 tomatoes cut in wedges
12-13 Bydagi chilis (soaked for 6-7 hours)
10-12 garlic pods
1/2 inch ginger
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp vinegar
1 tsp soya sauce (optional)
salt as per taste
1 tsp gingelly oil

Recipes:

In a pan, add oil & fry tomatoes for 1 min.

Add soaked chilies now & fry for 1-2 mins.

Add garlic & fry for 1 min.

Add grated ginger & fry all very well for 2-3 mins.

Now, let all ingredients cool down & grind into a fine paste (add water if required).

Now, In the same pan add all the chutney paste & keep flame high. Add salt & cook for 2 mins on high flame.

Now add soya sauce (optional), tomato ketchup & vinegar.
(we avoided soya sauce).
